Savoury Hot Cross Buns


Ingredients

  • 700g high grade flour

  • 21g yeast

  • 500ml milk, warmed

  • 160g Dairyworks 3-Cheese Grated

  • 2 tsp salt

  • Dairyworks Tasty Natural Cheese Slices 500g


Method

1. Mix the flour, yeast and salt in a big bowl. Make a well in the centre and pour in the milk. Mix with a wooden spoon into a soft dough. Knead for 10 minutes, then put the dough back into the bowl. Lighlty cover with oiled cling film and leave in a warm spot until dough has doubled in size (approx. 30 minutes).


2. Tip the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead in Dairyworks 3-Cheese Grated. Dust a large, flat baking sheet with flour. Shape the dough into 12 round buns and arrange on the sheet with a 2-3cm gap between each. Loosely cover with another sheet of lightly oiled cling film and leave to prove until nearly doubled in size (approx. 30 minutes).


3. Heat oven to 180°C fan bake. Cut Dairyworks Tasty Natural Cheese Slices into strips and place on top of buns to form crosses.


4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden and enjoy!
